What is Kettle Korn?

Kettle korn dates back to the 18th century and first originated in Europe. After a long day of work, many farmers would use their large cast iron kettles and cook corn over an open fire. While the corn was cooking, the farmers added lard and sugar to create a slightly sweet, slightly salty mixture of popcorn. Today, kettle korn is made in a large steel kettle and the corn is cooked in oil and sugar and lightly seasoned with salt to give it that amazing flavor.
